It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
